A Delicious Meal on A Busy Day at Arrosto Mediterranean Rotisserie

Who wants to stay inside during this beautiful weather? Not me!

Last Sunday, in the middle of running from one activity to another, we made a stop at Arrosto Mediterranean Rotisserie on Northeast’s Sandy Blvd. for a quick, delicious, and healthy lunch that we enjoyed picnic-style at their outdoor dining area.

Located on the west side of Providore Fine Foods, this walk-up window restaurant serves food inspired by Portland’s food court culture and the Italian street food that owners, Kaie Wellman and Kevin de Garmo, fell in love with on a trip to the Ligurian coast in Italy. It was the perfect solution for a meal on the run.

Arrosto’s menu is simple, yet scrumptious: a quarter, half, or whole bird, marinated with house-made preserved lemons and rosemary oil, and accompanied by a smokey Calabria pepper dipping sauce.  There are three sides to choose from; roasted potatoes, a focaccia bread strip, and Arrosto’s own version of a Caesar salad, complete with thinly sliced strips of Parmesan cheese. Everything on the menu is ala carte so you can build your plate to your own tastes.

Wellman and de Garmo insist on using only free-range, antibiotic-free chicken and fresh vegetables, making the entire menu a healthy choice to serve your family when you’re out and about and looking for a quick solution for a dinner that everyone will love. My picky five-year-old loved the potatoes roasted in chicken drippings and dusted with sea salt.

Arrosto Mediterranean Rotisserie is located at 2340 NE Sandy Blvd. The window is open Tuesday thru Sunday from 11:30am to 7:30pm, and you can eat it there or have them pack up the meal for take out. There are places to sit outside near Arrosto, or at the seating area inside Providore Fine Foods.
