Strolling Through the Shops of Northwest’s 23rd Avenue

August 24, 2016 By Dena Weigel Bell 2 Comments

Outside Dining
From the stylish to the scrumptious, the picturesque streets of Nob Hill’s 23rd Avenue in the Northwest District is home to some of the best shopping found in the Portland. Tucked away in quaint boutique shops you’ll find high-end and Bohemian fashion, top chefs, and handmade gifts created by people near and far. In other words, it’s one of the best places you’ll find the quintessential Portland shopping experience.

Goorin Bros. Hat Shop

For the quirky styles that Portlanders are so well known for you’ll want to stop in at one of the dress shops and haberdasheries, like Ipnosi Clothing and Goorin Bros. Hat Shop.

The merchants haven’t left out four-legged family members. At Java Hound Coffee Bar your pets are welcome to browse the latest in furry fashion while you sip on a frothy cappuccino.

When you do get hungry you’ll find a world of choices in restaurants with notable chefs and exciting menus. Grab some Street Tacos at Matador or a vegetarian plate at Siri Indian Cuisine.

Afterwards, you can enjoy a delicious treat at Saint Cupcake. With flavors like PB&J and Big Top, you’ll feel like the fun has just begun.

Shopping on Nob Hill offers items that most people have to travel hours to find. My favorite import shop to browse is Istanbul Rug Bazaar for their endless choices in handmade carpets that are both beautiful in look and craftsmanship.

Paper Source

If you’re looking for a gift that fits everyone step into Paper Source where you’ll find everything from personalized gifts, to invitations and craft paper.

The New Renaissance Bookshop is heaven sent for those with an interest in personal growth. Full of inspirational products and events, it’s a great place to explore your more spiritual side.

Salt and Straw

No trip to 23rd is complete until you stop in at Portland’s famous Salt and Straw ice cream shop. Their inventive mixes combine surprising flavors like Carrot Cake Batter & Pralined Hazelnuts, Honey Lavender, and Stumptown Coffee & Burnside Bourbon. Free tastes, too!

Spending a day on Nob Hill’s 23rd Avenue is like a trip around the world in my own backyard. With interesting things to see, taste, and take home, your next visit is sure to be one of your most memorable shopping experiences in Portland.

Hi Lorna! There are very few parking lots serving 23rd Avenue. The general practice is to park on the side streets and start your stroll there. I hope this helps.
